There are several ways to place a bet at Lifford Greyhound Stadium, the information below will give you a guide as to how to bet. Unfortunately, we cant pick winners for you!
Tote Betting
Tote betting is exciting, fun and very easy to do. The minimum bet is €2 and the maximum is as much as you like. Money is bet into a 'pool' with the money (minus tote deductions) being divided by the number of winning tickets. Everyone can have a little fun on the tote for a small risk. Below are the type of bets accepted on the tote.
Win
This is where you select a dog to win a race. This is the simplest bet of all and is very popular.
Place
In this bet you are selecting a dog to finish either first or second.
Straight Forecast
With a forecast you are
trying to select two dogs to finish first and second in the correct order.
Reversed Forecast
You can select two dogs for a reversed forecast so that if they finish first and second in either order you will win. This is in effect two bets so your stake is doubled, ie €2
Trio
The trio is a bet where you are trying to select the first three dogs to finish in the right order. This costs €2 and can be a very lucrative bet if succesful. Punters have been known to collect hundreds for a €2 stake!
Trio All Ways
The Trio All Ways is a popular bet, where 3 or more dogs are selected and as long as they finish first, second and third, in any order, you are a winner. Selecting 3 dogs for the Trio All Ways will cost €6 as there are 6 possible combinations.
NB All Tote dividends are for a €2 stake, so if you have €5 win on a dog you will win 5 times the declared stake.
Bookmaker Betting
Bookmaker Betting takes place outside on the terracing and there is a great buzz of excitement as the bookmakers display ever changing odds for each dog in the race. If you like the price on offer you strike a bet with a particular bookie and you are guaranteed those odds.
